Important Safety Considerations

Proper system design is required for reliable and safe operation of distributed control systems incorporating Smart Controls products. It is extremely important for the user and system designer to consider the effects of loss of power, loss of communications, and failure of components in the design of any monitoring or control application. Customers are responsible for designing and manufacturing their equipment to provide for safe operation thereof, including, but not limited to, compliance or qualification with respect to all safety laws, regulations or agency approvals, as applicable.

This is especially important where the potential for property damage, personal injury, or loss of life may exist. By using any Smart Controls product, the user has agreed to assume all risk and responsibility for proper system design as well as any consequence for improper system design. The hardware products offered for sale by Smart Controls are not designed, intended or authorized for use as components in equipment intended for surgical implant into the body or other applications intended to support or sustain life, or for any other application in which the failure of the Hardware Products contained herein could create a situation in which personal injury or death may occur.


All Smart Controls products are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two (2) years from the date of shipment from the Smart Controls factory. Smart Controls’ sole and exclusive liability and Customer’s sole remedy under this warranty shall be for Smart Controls to repair or replace any such defective products. Defective units will be repaired or replaced, at manufacturer’s discretion, at no cost to user outside of shipping costs pre-approved by Smart Controls, except when negligence or improper use has resulted in damage. Out-of-warranty repair and return shipping are billed to the customer. Repair or replacement does not extend the warranty period of such hardware products.

Configuration errors made by customer are not covered under warranty. Damage caused by incorrect electrical connection is not covered under warranty. Removing circuit boards from their enclosures will void the warranty – the complete product with all of its original circuit boards and components must be returned for warranty consideration.

The express warranty stated herein is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including without limitation any warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and all other warranties are hereby disclaimed and excluded by Smart Controls, LLC.

Product Changes

Smart Controls reserves the right to make changes to documentation, product specifications, or products, without notice and at its discretion to correct errors in documentation or make improvements in products. Information on this website is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of fitness and merchantability for a particular purpose.

Online Ordering

All standard stock items are available for online ordering. Contact sales@smartcontrols.com if you do not see an online order button for the item you desire.

Ordering – Lead Times

All orders submitted through our E-Shop will go through the same order fulfillment and prioritization processes as manually submitted purchase orders.

The following lead times should be expected for filling customer orders:

Hardware: 3 business days

Software: 1 business day

3rd Party Orders: 5-10 business days


Please consult Smart Controls for standard lead times of individual orders.

In the event that these lead times cannot be met due to supplier shortage or other factors, the customer will be informed immediately and further options discussed.

Shipping & Delivery

Orders are shipped FOB shipping point Fairview Heights, IL, USA. Orders will be shipped to the address specified in the shipping instructions at checkout with the shipping terms prepaid and billed. At this time, Smart Controls ships orders completed from our E-Shop to locations within the United States. Smart Controls ships domestic via UPS. Shipping expenses are the responsibility of the customer.

Smart Controls will be responsible for properly packing and packaging the products in suitable containers for protection during shipment in accordance with transportation regulations and good commercial practice. Smart Controls will prepare an itemized packing slip that includes the Purchase Order number, description of items, and quantity shipped for each package.

Cancellation of Order

Should you change your mind after purchase and wish to cancel your order, please contact Smart Controls immediately. We can cancel your order as long as you request cancellation prior to shipment. However, if your order has been shipped out, you will be responsible for all taxes and shipping expenses (including the original shipping, handling charges, customs, and return postage).

Inspection & Acceptance of Delivered Product

Upon arrival at the customer’s shipping destination, the customer shall immediately inspect the products at their own cost, and if the products are found to not conform to shipping documents, the customer shall give written notice to Smart Controls within fifteen (15) days after arrival of any claim to that effect, specifically setting forth the manner in which the products do not conform. Non-conforming products can be returned at no expense by contacting Smart Controls for return shipping information. If the customer retains the products after their arrival without giving Smart Controls such notice, the retention of the products shall constitute an irrevocable acceptance of the products by the customer.

Damage sustained in shipping should be brought to the attention of the shipper immediately upon receipt of shipment so that an insurance claim may be filed.


OPTION A (Control Solutions)

If you are unsatisfied with a Smart Controls product, including if it does not fit your requirements, you may return it for a full refund of the product price paid up to 30 days past the date of sale, provided the product is returned undamaged and in like-new condition in its original packaging material. Returns past 30 days are subject to a restocking fee. Returns for refund past 12 months may not be made. Shipping charges, taxes, customs, and other fees are not refundable.

OPTION B (Lynxspring)

Product shipped may not be returned for credit without prior approval from Smart Controls. All approved returns are based on products being returned in factory-new condition in their original packaging materials.

1. Prior to shipment of Smart Controls product: No charge

2. Within 60 days from the date of shipment: 20% restocking charge (minimum $100.00)

3. Greater than 60 days but less than 90 days from date of shipment: 30% restocking charge (minimum $200.00)

4. After 90 days from date of shipment: No less than 50% restocking charge (minimum $300.00).

OPTION C (Engenuity)

Due to the electronic nature of the components that Smart Controls sells, all sales are final. … Customers must contact Smart Controls to request a return. The request for return may be refused. For products that are authorized a return, the return is subject to a minimum 20% restocking charge. The customer is responsible for the shipping charges back to Smart Controls.

All goods returned must be in the original packaging, unopened and unused. Products sent to Smart Controls without the proper return authorization will be refused. Products that are found to be used will either be returned to the customer without a credit or the customer will be charged for the technician’s time to inspect and return the product to the original default settings. Smart Controls charges $125.00/hour in these circumstances with a minimum charge of $62.50.

Price Changes

Prices are subject to change without notice except where governed by contract. Smart Controls makes every effort to control costs, but cost increases are sometimes beyond our control and necessitate price adjustment.


Smart Controls charges sales tax for products ordered on our E-Shop based on the applicable state sales tax rate and the location to which the order is being shipped.

The price of the products throughout our E-Shop does not include applicable federal, state, and local taxes unless otherwise stated in the pricing. Taxes are the responsibility of the customer.


The customer is responsible for paying any applicable customs fees. Customs fees are beyond the control of Smart Controls. Customs fees are NOT included in standard shipping charges. You must pay customs in your country when you receive the shipment. Your order will not refunded if you abandon the shipment due to you refusing to pay customs fees in your country.

Credit Card Payment

Amounts up to your credit limit may be paid with a major credit cart through the secure online credit card processing gateway on the checkout page.

Credit card data is not maintained on our server. It is tramsitted in encrypted form to the credit card processing gateway for payment. If you choose to save payment information for future purchases at checkout, customers will be able to pay with a saved card at checkout on their account. Card details are saved on the credit card processing gateway server and not on the Smart Controls server.

PayPal Payment

Amounts under a threshold set by PayPal may be paid immediately through PayPal with a major credit card. Credit card payment or direct bank account transfer of larger amounts via PayPal may be made after your account has been verified by PayPal.

When payments are made through PayPal, Smart Controls does not receive your credit card number. PayPal notifies us immediately when payment is received from you.


Wholesale pricing is available to recognized system integrators, value-added resellers, OEMs, service providers, etc. Register for or request your existing Smart Controls account be upgraded to wholesale status by:

1. Completing our Wholesale Registration form

2. Emailing your business’ valid tax exemption certificate to Smart Controls for verification

Once both steps have been completed, Smart Controls will review your request for approval.

Wholesale status applies to pricing only, and does not imply access to payment via credit terms. Additional credit information will be requested to establish an open account.

Note: You must be approved for wholesale status prior to placing any order for which you expect to get wholesale pricing. Smart Controls will not refund the difference on prior orders if you upgrade your account to wholesale later.

Credit Terms

We also accept payment via credit terms on approved accounts. Terms are Net 30 days, without exception, on specific wholesale accounts given approval. Prices are USD and FOB Company headquarters. Purchase orders submitted without prior account establishment will not be honored. Allow 2 weeks for processing open credit application. Open credit is not grated to companies outside North America.

In the event a customer fails to fulfill previous terms of payment, or in case Smart Controls shall have any doubt at any time as to a customer’s financial responsibility, Smart Controls may decline to make further shipments except upon receipt of cash in advance or other special arrangements.
